INDNAT is an independent one man trousers workshop that includes design, development, manufacture and sale of bespoke craftsmanship and limited ready to wear series. Womens and mens garments with strong focus on trousers and organic cotton. As well as a small range of outdoor vests and a knitwear collection made from yak & organic sheep wool in collaboration with "selected ambient works".
All trousers and vests are made by hand_* and sewn one piece at a time or in limited production series. Good quality and durability of the garments are the standard by which i work, one that i continously try to improve. Important criteria for the designs are their use and the production method. I try to manufacture with awareness in treatment of our resources in all working processes.
There is a main role in the design inspiration and that is in a big part taken by the growing curiosity towards clothing for craftsmen and traditional garbs (folk clothing); its shapes, the functional details, the process methods used, the materials, the traditional tailoring techniques and even sometimes the old stories that go with these, are the input that translates into a refined form. In combination with new ideas on detail and limited only by simplicity, these are the aspiration of craftsmanship that i hold in honor. Silent sports like surfing, climbing, cylcing ... the ocean and the mountains, ... the interest in different handcrafts ... and ... so much more, most of all that what i can not explain with words, are the ingredients_* for the design, fine-tuning and the feeling of the products.
All garments are made only with high quality materials. As said before, due to the compromise with the whole production process, i introduced a very good Canvas qualitiy made of Organic Cotton fibres (woven in Porto - Portugal). A big step will be next, to offer all cotton fabrics in organic. Excellent resistant suit clothes (Made in Barcelona / Catalunya & in Huddersfield - Yorkshire / England) are also available in the assortment of fabrics. For trousers and vests i can offer a very particular Loden (fulled cloth), which is made in the mountains of Austria.
The main selling process is a direct sale (mail order) to the customer; made to measure in waist and length (Typ. M10 - M42) as well as in fixed sizes. Furthermore, i offer a selected range of trousers and waistcoats on travelling selling tours and for retail stores.
In design collaboration with Eva Brandmaier (selected ambient works - Berlin) we introduced last autumn a limited production of knitted wool sweater and cardigans. For Autumn Winter 2.011 12 we concentrated the production on a high quality, natural coloured yarn, made of 50% Yakwool - 50% Merinowool from Florence in Italy. Beside the Pull.over001, we developed two Cardigans for women and men. All knitted garments are carefulluy made in Germany.
RESPECT THE WATERS has its roots in windsurfing and surfing. This statement calls for thoughtfulness towards nature, the resources at our disposal, and our dependence upon them. The understanding of this should always be the underlying foundation to our inspiration and professional approach, for all steps and decisions to come.
